“The trial is being closely watched as one of the most significant recent domestic terrorism cases, a test of Washington’s commitment in the wake of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol to pursue far-right groups who seek to kindle a violent, anti-government insurgency or even a new civil war.””1
In this article, the New York Times basically assesses that the Witmer plot was a “test” for the real event which as January 6th.
They were “considering how to kidnap her as payback for her Covid-19 lockdown measures.”1
Christopher Gibbons, Adam Fox lawyer, “maintained Fox was a follower, not a leader, and looked up to FBI informants and undercover agents who cased Whitmer’s vacation home alongside Fox, and accompanied him and others during training sessions.”2
“Adam Fox was an unemployed vacuum repairman who was venting his frustrations on social media but abiding by the laws of the State of Michigan,” Gibbons argued. “Adam Fox is not the leader of a multistate ‘army’ of domestic terrorists.”2
The lawyer mentioned that Fox was unemployed as many were during the Covid-19 pandemic. Also that they were “considering how to kidnap her as payback for her Covid-19 lockdown measures.”
His beliefs were justified that covid lockdowns were an abuse of power: “Despite the devastating impact of these epidemics during the early years of the new American republic when the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights were being deliberated and debated, no one ever proposed or suggested that public health exceptions or any kind of emergency exceptions be included. Furthermore, during the 19th and 20th centuries when the United States suffered through additional deadly epidemics (including the widespread Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918-1920), no public officials ever proposed that Americans’ constitutional rights be suspended, even temporarily, for public health reasons.”3
“Previously, Gibbons said a life sentence was inappropriate because Fox and Croft never used explosives and there was no actual attempt to kidnap Whitmer.” 2
The was no injured party, nor destruction to property. This is troubling as the agents involved are representatives of the People and influenced/planned out a plot to entrap them.
“That situation is complicated by the fact that the case has become a political lightning rod, with right-wing commentators calling it a prime example of government overreach. Some even baselessly assert that the Michigan investigation was a test run for what they claim was a false flag operation conducted on Jan. 6.”4
